What are the advantages of Sure To Grow® vs. other hydroponic growing media?
Sure To Grow® should be considered by any hydroponic grower who uses a medium to do any indoor gardening. Sure To Grow® is particularly advantageous for growers of high turnover crops like herbs, baby greens, sprouts, wheat grass and microgreens. Growers of large crops like tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and lettuce will see great advantages with our STG Grow Cubes, Blocks and Slabs.
While Sure To Grow® is especially well suited for hydroponic applications, conventional growers can use it with some minor modifications to their fertigation regimen. Sure to Grow® Loose Fill can be added to soilless nursery mix up to 50% with no modification to growing practices.
STG is compatible with most hydroponic systems including flood and drain, Ebb and Gro, NFT, drip, deep flow and float.
STG cubes are excellent for rooting cuttings. When cuttings are rooted in STG instead of the more traditional Neoprene plugs there is less damage to roots and less shock upon transplant intot he growing system.
In order to satisfy our many growers who grow organic crops, we will introduce an additional line of STG that will be made from Lyocell, an organic, sustainable, cellulous fiber. This fiber is in-soil degradable and may conform to OMRI guidelines for use as an organic medium. Availability fourth quarter 2008.
Growers report significantly faster germination time with Sure To Grow® products compared to other hydroponic supply media.
Yes, the aeration of Sure to Grow’s starter cubes, blocks and slabs are ideal for propagation of cuttings. We expect to incorporate dibble holes in our cubes and blocks in the first quarter of 2008.
Seeds can be germinated in sheets of starter cubes and transferred to nursery containers. Smaller quantities can be transferred.
No, unlike other media, Sure To Grow® wets instantly, requiring no presoaking , no pH conditioning and no wetting agents.
Sure To Grow® products are inert and require a complete water soluble nutrient solution.
Sure To Grow® is made of food grade PET fibers with a PE binder. This same food grade material is used for soda bottles, clam shells and milk jugs. The biodegradable version, which will be available in 2008, is made from lyocell, a cellulose fiber derived from wood.
Sure To Grow® can be disposed in landfills or incinerated for heat-recovery. The lyocell version of the product is in-soil degradable and is far superior to other compostable products.
Sure To Grow® has an indefinite shelf life. It does not become brittle or degrade over time.
Sure to Grow® media is superior to other hydroponic media on a number of criteria, including: weight, pH neutral, aeration, ease of use and production efficiencies. The following chart allows you to easily compare Sure to Grow to other media commonly used in hydroponic and horticulture production.
